Not every limit is about words. Poems have line counts, scripts and subtitles are measured in lines, and data exports are checked by the number of rows. The Paragraph & Line Counter shows total lines, non-empty lines, paragraphs and characters for whatever you paste.

It updates as you type and does everything in your browser.

How to use the Paragraph & Line Counter

Paste or type your text into the box.
Read the statistics: lines, non-empty lines, paragraphs and characters.
Press Copy statistics to copy the numbers, or Clear to start again.

Tips for better results

Total lines include blank ones. Non-empty lines are the real content lines, which is usually the figure you want for lists.
A paragraph is a block of text separated from the next by at least one blank line.
Text copied from Windows and Mac sources can use different line-ending characters. The counter handles both.
Use it to check that a pasted list has the same number of rows as the source before you import it.

Lines in a word-processor are different

A word processor counts the lines it draws on screen, which change when you resize the window. This counter counts the real line breaks in the text, so the result stays the same however wide your screen is.
