Image Cropper: how to use it
How to crop an image to exact pixel coordinates in your browser, with a simple method for choosing X, Y, width and height.
Cropping removes the parts of a picture you do not want and keeps a rectangle you define. This cropper is coordinate based: instead of dragging a box, you type the exact pixel position and size. That is slower for casual editing but ideal when a requirement says "exactly 600 by 800" or when you want the same crop on several images.
The image is processed locally, so confidential scans and ID photos stay on your device.
How to use the Image Cropper
- Select your image. Its size appears so you know the available area.
- Enter Crop X, the number of pixels from the left edge where the crop should start.
- Enter Crop Y, the number of pixels from the top edge.
- Enter the Crop width and Crop height of the rectangle to keep.
- Choose an Output format: PNG, JPEG or WebP, then press Process image.
- Check the preview and press Download result.
Tips for better results
- The origin (0, 0) is the top-left corner. X grows to the right and Y grows downward.
- To centre a crop, use X = (image width - crop width) / 2 and Y = (image height - crop height) / 2.
- The rectangle must fit inside the picture. If X plus width is larger than the image width, the tool will tell you the crop does not fit.
- For a square profile picture, make width and height equal and move X or Y until the face is centred.
Crop, then resize
Cropping decides what is shown; resizing decides how many pixels it uses. When a target ratio is fixed, crop to that ratio first, then resize to the exact dimensions. This avoids the stretched look you get from forcing a wrong ratio.
Frequently asked questions
Can I drag a box on the picture?
This version uses typed coordinates for accuracy and repeatability. Use the preview to check your numbers and adjust.
Which format keeps transparency?
PNG and WebP. JPEG fills transparent areas with white.
Does cropping reduce quality?
No pixels are altered inside the kept area. Quality only changes if you choose JPEG or WebP, which compress the result.
